Aegis of the Ancients: Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Aegis of the Ancients: Myth Tower Defense ("Aegis", "the game") is made by Studio H, a DBA of House Heath LLC ("Studio H", "we", "us"). Studio H is responsible for the personal information described here. Contact us at developer@studiohgames.com.
2. Information we handle
2.1 Stored only on your device
- Game progress: battles won, stars, upgrades, heroes, unlocked items, challenge results and records, achievements and settings (such as language, sound and game speed). It is kept in the app's storage on your device.
- Recent errors: the last few technical error messages from the current session, kept in memory so they can be added to a bug report if you choose to send one (section 2.5). They are not sent anywhere on their own.
2.2 Apple services: iCloud and Game Center
Where these features are turned on in your version of the game, and you are signed in to them on your device:
- iCloud: a copy of your game progress is kept in Apple's iCloud key-value storage so it can be merged across devices signed in to the same Apple ID. It is stored in your own iCloud account; we cannot see it. If iCloud is off, the game keeps a local save only.
- Game Center: the game signs in to Game Center, reports achievements, and posts scores to three leaderboards (endless waves, daily challenge score and campaign stars). Your Game Center nickname and scores are visible to other players as Game Center allows. Game Center is run by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
The game may also ask iOS to show Apple's own rating prompt after a win. Ratings are handled entirely by Apple.
2.3 Purchases
In-app purchases are processed by Apple (App Store). We never see your payment card or billing details. The game receives a confirmation of the purchase (product and transaction ID) so it can unlock your item, and it can restore purchases through the App Store. There are no subscriptions.
2.4 Advertising
Aegis has optional rewarded ads only: the game never shows an ad on its own, and you choose to watch one in exchange for an in-game bonus. Ads are provided by Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK, with Google's User Messaging Platform for consent).
- On first launch, where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), Google's consent form asks for your choices about ads. Then iOS asks whether the game may track you across other companies' apps and websites.
- AdMob may collect device identifiers (the advertising identifier only if you allow tracking), IP address and approximate location derived from it, ad interactions, and diagnostic information, in order to show, measure and improve ads and to prevent fraud. If you decline tracking or consent, you may still see ads, but they are not personalised.
- If you buy Remove Ads, the game does not load AdMob or show the consent form or tracking question again.
You can change your consent choices at any time in the game's Settings → Privacy choices (where offered in your region), and tracking in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
2.5 Bug reports (only if you send one)
The game has a Report a bug screen. Nothing is sent unless you choose to send it: the report leaves your device by email, through your device's share sheet, or by copying it to the clipboard. Besides what you write, a report includes game details unless you untick that box: the app version, device model, iOS version, language, screen size, a summary of your progress and purchases, the battle in progress (if any) and recent error messages. You can read them on the form before sending. It does not include your name or contact details, but if you send it by email we will see your email address, and we use it only to reply to you.
2.6 What the game does not do
Aegis has no player accounts, no chat or messages between players, no analytics or crash-reporting service, and no game servers of our own.
3. How we use information
We use the information above only to run the game, deliver purchases, show optional ads, answer support requests and bug reports, fix problems, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for profiling beyond the ad settings described above.
Legal bases (EU/UK): performance of our agreement with you (running the game and the features you choose), legitimate interests (answering reports and fixing bugs), consent (personalised ads, which you can withdraw at any time), and legal obligations.
4. Sharing
Information is shared only with the companies that run parts of the game: Google (AdMob) for ads, and Apple for purchases, iCloud and Game Center. We also share it when the law requires, or to protect the safety of players. If Studio H is ever involved in a merger or sale, this policy will continue to apply to your information.
5. Children
Aegis is a strategy game with fantasy combat and is not designed specifically for young children. It does not ask for anyone's age and collects no personal information directly from players. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information, for example in a bug report email, contact developer@studiohgames.com and we will delete it. You can use Apple's Screen Time to require approval for purchases and to limit ad tracking.
6. How long we keep information
- On-device data stays until you delete it: reset your progress in Settings, or uninstall the game. An iCloud copy stays in your iCloud account until you remove it in your iCloud settings.
- Bug reports and support emails are kept only as long as needed to answer them and fix the problem, and no longer than 24 months.
- AdMob keeps data according to Google's own policies.
7. Your choices and rights
- Ads: rewarded ads are always optional. Manage tracking in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and consent choices in the game's Settings → Privacy choices where offered. Remove Ads turns ads off completely.
- Your save: reset it in the game's Settings, or uninstall the game.
- Access, correction, deletion, portability, objection: depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, or US state laws such as the CCPA/CPRA), you may have these rights. Email us to use them; we will respond within the time the law requires. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
- California: we do not sell personal information. Where AdMob's personalised ads may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising, you can opt out by declining tracking, through the consent choices, or by contacting us. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.
8. International transfers
Studio H is based in the United States. Our providers use safeguards recognised by law, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, for information transferred from the EU, UK or elsewhere.
9. Security
Your progress stays on your device or in your own iCloud account, and ad and purchase traffic is encrypted in transit by Google and Apple. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
10. Changes
We will post any changes here and update the effective date. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the game.
