Hollowmere: Cozy Witch Farm: Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Hollowmere: Cozy Witch Farm ("Hollowmere", "the game") is made by Studio H ("we", "us"). Studio H is responsible for the personal information described here. Contact us at developer@studiohgames.com.
2. Information we handle
2.1 Stored only on your device
- Game progress: your farm, items, levels, settings and a few automatic backups. It stays on your device unless you use cloud save (section 2.3).
- Age group: the birth year you enter the first time you play. We use it only to decide which features and ad settings apply (see section 5). It is saved with your game progress.
- Gameplay statistics: a short log of in-game events (for example "level up"), kept on your device. It is not sent to us or anyone else.
- Reminders: optional reminders such as "your crops are ready" are scheduled on your device. No push server is involved.
- Photos: photo mode creates a picture of your farm. It is saved or shared only when you choose to, through your device's share sheet.
2.2 Purchases
In-app purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your payment card or billing details. The game receives a confirmation of the purchase (product and transaction ID) so it can deliver your item, and it can restore purchases through the store.
2.3 Online features (friends, farm visits, cloud save)
Online features use Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), with data stored in the United States. When you first use them, the game creates an anonymous account identified by a random ID. It does not contain your name or email. Depending on the features you use, we store:
| Data | Why | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| Random account ID, a random device ID, and when you were last active | To run your online account and keep cloud saves in sync | Only the game's systems |
| Farm name, level, friend code, when you were last active, and number of likes | Shown on your farm and in friends lists | Other players |
| Farm snapshot (layout, crops, decorations, animals, level, witch's look) | So friends can visit your farm | Other players (for example friends, or anyone you give your farm code to) |
| Friend code and friends list | To connect you with friends | You and your friends |
| Likes, gifts and community event contributions | To deliver gifts and track shared goals | You, the other player involved, and totals for everyone |
| Cloud save (a copy of your game progress) | To restore your farm on a new device | Only you |
| Reports (a fixed reason, such as "name", with no free text) and blocks | To keep the community safe | Studio H moderators; blocks are visible only to you |
Hollowmere has no chat and no free-text messages between players; gifts and likes are fixed in-game items.
Firebase also processes technical information, such as IP address and device or app identifiers, to provide the service and prevent abuse. See Firebase's privacy information.
2.4 Sign in with Apple (optional, 13 and over)
Players aged 13 or over can link their account with Sign in with Apple to keep their farm safe across devices. Apple then shares a user identifier and, if you allow it, your name and an email address with us. That address can be Apple's private relay address. We use these to sign you in and to answer support requests: Studio H keeps a private list of signed-in players' email addresses, player IDs, farm names and friend codes, stored in Google Sheets, so we can find your account when you contact us. If you agree, we also use your email address for the Hollowmere newsletter (section 2.7). Sign in with Apple is not offered to players under 13.
2.5 Farm names and moderation
Players aged 13 or over may type a free-text farm name. Names are checked by an automatic filter, and other players can report or block a farm. Reported names may be hidden and reviewed by Studio H. Names that break the rules are removed. Players under 13 cannot type names; they choose a farm name from a list of pre-approved words.
2.6 Advertising
Hollowmere has optional rewarded ads only: you choose to watch an ad in exchange for an in-game bonus. Ads are provided by Google AdMob.
- Players 13 and over: AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as the advertising identifier, only if you allow tracking when iOS asks), IP address, and ad interactions in order to show and measure ads. Where the law requires it (for example in the EU, UK and some US states), you are asked for consent first and can change your choice later. You can also limit ad tracking in your device settings.
- Players under 13, or before an age is given: ad requests are marked as directed to children and as not personalised. The game does not show the iOS tracking prompt and does not allow interest-based advertising or remarketing.
See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
2.7 Newsletter (optional, 13 and over)
When you sign in with Apple, the game offers occasional emails from Studio H about Hollowmere updates, events and new games. You can untick the box to say no. In the EU, EEA, UK, Switzerland and Canada, or if we can't tell your region, the box starts unticked, and you receive emails only if you tick it. You can stop at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email, or by turning off Settings → Account → Email me Hollowmere news. For newsletter players we store your email address, the date you signed up, your language, where you signed up, the wording you agreed to, whether the box was pre-ticked, and the region used to decide that (our record of your consent). We keep this until you unsubscribe or delete your account. We send newsletters through an email service provider acting on our behalf. Players under 13 are never offered the newsletter.
3. How we use information
We use the information above only to run the game and its online features, deliver purchases, show optional ads, keep players safe (moderation, abuse prevention), provide support, send the newsletter to players who signed up, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for profiling beyond the ad settings described above.
Legal bases (EU/UK): performance of our agreement with you (running the game and the features you choose), legitimate interests (safety, abuse prevention, improving the game), consent (personalised ads and the newsletter, which you can withdraw at any time), and legal obligations.
4. Sharing
We share information only with service providers that run parts of the game for us: Google (Firebase, AdMob, and Google Sheets for our private support list), an email service provider for the newsletter, and Apple or Google for purchases and sign-in. We also share it when the law requires, or to protect the safety of players. Other players see only what is listed as visible in section 2.3. If Studio H is ever involved in a merger or sale, this policy will continue to apply to your information.
5. Children
Hollowmere is suitable for all ages. When you first play, the game asks for your birth year without indicating any preferred answer. If you are under 13, or have not yet answered, the game automatically:
- shows only ads that are marked as directed to children and are not personalised, and never asks for tracking permission;
- does not offer Sign in with Apple or the newsletter, and does not collect email addresses;
- replaces free-text farm names with a pre-approved word list;
- asks a grown-up to pass a parent check before any purchase, before opening any outside link, and before changing the age setting.
For players under 13, the only online information stored is the random account ID, the farm snapshot and name chosen from the word list, friends, likes and gifts, and the cloud save. We use these only to provide the game ("support for internal operations" under the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, COPPA). Parents and guardians can review or delete this information at any time by using Settings → Account → Delete account in the game, or by emailing developer@studiohgames.com with the player's friend code. If we learn that we collected other personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it.
6. How long we keep information
- On-device data stays until you delete it: reset the game in Settings, or uninstall the game.
- Online account data is kept while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, farm snapshot, friends, gifts and cloud save are deleted within 30 days. Backups expire on Google's schedule.
- Your email address in our support list is kept while your account exists and removed when you delete your account. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe or delete your account.
- Moderation reports are kept for up to 12 months to help keep the community safe, then deleted. A report you filed may remain for that time even after you delete your account; it contains only your random account ID.
7. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account: Settings → Account → Delete account removes your online data, or email us.
- Ads: rewarded ads are always optional. Manage tracking in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and consent choices in the game's settings where offered.
- Newsletter: use the unsubscribe link in any email, or turn off Settings → Account → Email me Hollowmere news.
- Reminders: turn them off in the game's settings or in your device's notification settings.
- Access, correction, deletion, portability, objection: depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, or US state laws such as the CCPA/CPRA), you may have these rights. Email us to use them; we will respond within the time the law requires. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
- California: we do not sell personal information. Where AdMob's personalised ads for adults may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising, you can opt out by declining tracking, through the consent choices, or by contacting us. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.
8. International transfers
Studio H is based in the United States, and online data is stored in the United States. Our providers use safeguards recognised by law, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, for information transferred from the EU, UK or elsewhere.
9. Security
Online data is encrypted in transit and protected by access rules so that players can read and change only what they are allowed to. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
10. Changes
We will post any changes here and update the effective date. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the game.
